Leeza Care Advocate
Leeza’s Place
at PSGDC

Sharon Lebenkoff is the Leeza Care Advocate at Leeza’s Place at Park Slope Geriatric Day Center. Sharon is delighted to be working for Leeza’s Place in Park Slope, Brooklyn, where caregivers of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and religions can gather to talk about a life experience that crosses all boundaries: caring for a loved one.

Sharon believes in the importance of honoring the elderly and heeding their wisdom. Sharon had a very special relationship with her late grandparents and feels that they were the one of the greatest influences on her character and life choices. She hopes that her work at Leeza’s Place will in some small way help assist more grandchildren and grandparents to enjoy their time together and benefit from such a beautiful relationship.

Sharon is a strong believer in the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle and using stress management techniques to maintain peace of mind and move forward during challenging times. She is pleased to offer a balance of social, emotional, and educational programming at Park Slope’s Leeza’s Place, as well as workshops that are specifically geared towards stress management such as meditation and reiki.

Sharon graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Race and Gender Studies. She has experience in both the education and non-profit sectors. She was an English instructor both overseas and in the United States. A lover of learning herself, she greatly enjoyed working with students of a variety of ages and facilitating their learning processes. She has worked with non-profit, non-governmental organizations in such diverse areas as workforce development, fair trade, international human rights, youth development, and gender equality.

Message from Sharon Lebenkoff, Leeza Care Advocate

Dear Guests of Leeza’s Place at Park Slope Geriatric Day Center,

We have enjoyed our relationship with Park Slope Geriatric Day Center for nearly three years.  We have served hundreds of caregivers for the myriad of needs and we are proud of the resources and services we’ve provided to the Brooklyn community.  Unfortunately, as of June 30th, we will be closing our Park Slope location.  In the near future we hope to relocate in the Brooklyn area so that we may continue to educate, empower, and energize our caregivers and loved ones.  There are several prominent hospitals that are interested in bringing a Leeza’s Place to their facility; the specifics about our move will be forthcoming shortly.  In the meantime, as we transition, we would like to ensure that your needs as caregivers are still being met.  Please feel free to contact Jeanmarie Brusati, Caregiver Associate at Park Slope Geriatric Day Center, at jbrusati@psgdc.org for information about caregiver services in Brooklyn.  For questions about Leeza’s Place, please call 1-888-OK-LEEZA or email info@leezasplace.org.

It is with mixed joy and sadness that I will be leaving the New York area to pursue a wonderful job opportunity in Ecuador, South America.  It saddens me to say goodbye to all of you, but I feel grateful and blessed that I have had the great pleasure of knowing you.  Working at Leeza’s Place has been a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

It has been our great pleasure and honor to serve you.

Sincerely,
Sharon Lebenkoff
