Leeza’s Place by WellMed at the San Antonio Memory Walk...

Leeza's Place by WellMed joined other community organizations in San Antonio for the 19th annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk held October 2nd at Brackenridge Park to raise money and bring awareness to Alzheimer's care and research.

Caregivers, friends & our very own Leeza Care Advocate, Rita Avendano, were on hand to represent our commitment to offering comfort & care for caregivers and their loved ones.

As part of the Food Committee, Rita and our Leeza's Place team were responsible for getting donations of water and granola bars.  After hand delivering about a dozen donation letters, we received 2,000 bottles of water from the WellMed Charitable Foundation & Alamo Caregiver Teleconnection, and almost 500 bottles from Ozarka! We also received 100 from HEB and then bought almost 300 granola bars which we handed out to walkers.

The best part of the event was working hard with all our Leeza’s Place volunteers to help make breakfast tacos before the event. From 1: 00 to 4:30 am, we cooked over 850 tacos and by the time the walk started at 8 am, they were all devoured! The event was such a success and we'll definitely be out there again next year!
