MARCH 2004 Leeza Gibbons to be honored by the Florida Bar's Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section (EASL) March 10, Miami - Television and Radio host Leeza Gibbons will by honored on Friday, March 26th in Miami Beach at the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Sixth Annual Legal Symposium on the world of music, film and television. This nationally recognized symposium covers current topics, issues, and trends in the entertainment industry for music, motion pictures, television, fashion and literature. "This fascinating symposium follows our Section's tradition of providing entertainment law practitioners with cutting-edge education on legal issues and trends in these industries", stated co-chair Richard Warren Rappaport. A highlight of this year's event will feature the presentation, during the luncheon, of the Tom Dowd Excellence in the Arts Award ("The Tom Dowd Award") to two outstanding individuals: Leeza Gibbons, renowned television personality and Founder/Board Chair of The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, Los Angeles and Miami; and Todd Leavitt, President of The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Los Angeles. Since Ms. Gibbons is unable to attend, her award will be accepted by Jamie Huysman, the Memory Foundation's executive director. A special Gift of Recognition will also be presented to Sony recording artist Soraya for her work with The City of Hope. The Luncheon will feature a keynote speech from R. Donahue (Don) Peebles, President/CEO, Peebles Atlantic Development Corporation and Board Chair of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as a presentation from Samantha Chang, Senior Editor, Business and Legal Affairs, Billboard Magazine, New York. Ms. Chang will also conduct a Billboard interview of Hollywood producer Ken Atchity ("Life or Something Like It" and "Joe Somebody"). |
